HOW DO LEARNERS CELEBRATE THE TURN OF SEASON IN THE NETHERLANDS?

“The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.”

Gertrude Jekyll, horticulturist

It appears that Spring has sprung at IPS Hilversum in the last few weeks, and we have certainly enjoyed and embraced our first glimmer of glorious sunshine! Students in Group 2 at the Frans Halslaan spied their opportunity to take their learning outside (without the need for thermals!), and have been carefully tending to the beautiful spring flowers growing in their inquiry garden.

The tulip, daffodil and hyacinth bulbs were planted back in the autumn and the students and teachers alike spent the winter eagerly anticipating their growth. Now that they are blooming beautifully our entire learning community look forward to each visit to the inquiry garden, helping to water them and watching their growth with excitement and awe.

To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.
